After more than 20 years of experience, we had to face the fact that the number of Roma students are continuously decreasing in tertiary education in Hungary. Consequently, in 2017 Romaversitas launched its new, after school university preparation programme for secondary school students in Budapest. Since then, this programme has been offering mentoring, tutoring, skill development, language and IT classes for secondary school students, and has ensured the transition from secondary to tertiary education.

We strongly believe that we must intervene in the key transition from high school to higher education, and must compensate for the impacts of structural racism, the lower level of academic preparation before school leaving exams.

Therefore, we believe that it is more important than ever to build a robust pipeline for (and of) under-represented students who become highly qualified college graduates and to ensure that a network of educational organizations and institutions stand by educational equity.

To maximize the efforts in Roma education, we are continuously seeking new long-term partnership opportunities with other organizations and institutions.
